What is Essential Items Tracker ?
The Essential Items Tracker application was developed as a crucial solution to address the
pressing needs of our Safety and Employee Health Officers during the challenging COVID-19
pandemic. This internally-used application serves the purpose of efficiently managing and
tracking the inventories of essential items across multiple Siemens offices in India.
The application provides key functionalities such as adding important inventory items,
facilitating inventory disbursement, and maintaining an updated master list of items. To
ensure appropriate access control, different levels of user roles were assigned, granting
restricted views and access to specific functionalities. Additionally, access privileges
were tailored to each office location based on their specific requirements and the number of
employees present.
During the development process, careful consideration was given to the usability of the
application for on-ground workers. The aim was to create an intuitive and user-friendly
interface that would enable accurate inventory management, taking into account the unique
challenges and requirements of maintaining inventory counts during the pandemic.
